ABOUT MICHELLE

Michelle Candotti obtained her piano Diploma with top marks while attending Verona’s Dell’Abaco Conservatory at the age of 14 under the direction of Laura Palmieri. She has participated in many piano competitions, winning a number of them, including the XVth Competition for the Best Italian Music Graduates (2009/10), which led her to recording a CD in September 2011. She won the second prize and Audience prize in the Scriabin International Piano Competition, second prize and the Sir Philip Ledger Trophy for the youngest finalist in the Hastings International Piano Concerto Competition, and second prize and the Rotary Club Award for the youngest finalist in XXIII International Chopin Competition in Rome, receiving also the medal of the President of the Italian Senate and the Henk de By Junior Jury Award in the Franz Liszt International Piano Competition in Utrecht. She was also one of the finalists of the 59th F. Busoni Competition.

She has played with the Philharmonic Orchestra of Bacău directed by M° O. Balan, with the Orchestra Sinfonica Città di Grosseto directed by M° G. Emilsson, with the Royal Philharmonic Concerto Orchestra directed by M° B. Wright, with the Goldoni Foundation Orchestra directed by M° M. Menicagli and with the Orchestra Nova Amadeus directed by M° N. Samale.

Michelle has featured in many recitals, playing in prestigious concert halls like Olimpico Theatre in Vicenza, London’s Royal Albert Hall, Bologna’s Manzoni Theatre and Mozart Hall, Padova’s Verdi Theatre and Giants Room, at the Sinfonia Varsovia Hall and Chopin Hall in Warsaw, Florence’s Salone dei Cinquecento and in Hastings’ Stables Theatre. As a younger student, she was invited to feature in a concerto held in Debussy’s birth house in Saint-Germain en Laye, Paris.

She is now studying under the supervision of M° D. Alexeev at the Royal College of Music, with M° E. Pace at the Imola International Piano Academy, and also with M° C. Palese. Michelle is a Kenneth and Violet Scott Scholar at the Royal College of Music.
