We’re recruiting!

Would you like to join our team? We’re looking for a Social Media and Communications Coordinator to work with the Communications Director on the organisation’s ongoing Communications Strategy and on individual campaigns for different projects.

In particular, we are looking for someone with the skills and drive to create and source interesting content for our social media channels and our website. However you will also work on other aspects of our communications, including producing print materials, developing relationships with other arts organisations and local press,  and liaising with our PR consultants.

This role is not full-time: initially it will be 60 hours per month at £15 per hour, with more days in the run-up to the competition in February 2026. These hours will need to be spread over the month rather than a concentrated period. We can be flexible over exact times but some cross over with the Comms Director and other staff will be necessary.

The role is hybrid: based partly from home and partly in our office in the Observer building, a welcoming co-working space in the centre of Hastings, filled with creatives and other local charities. There are monthly socials, as well as unlimited tea, coffee and fruit!  If you prefer not to work from home, you are welcome to work exclusively from the office.

Hastings International Piano is the charity that organises an international piano competition for the world’s best pianists under 30. The next competition will take place in February and March 2026. Aside from the competition, we run a diverse programme of concerts, education workshops and community events.

The organisation is run by a small team, and there is plenty of opportunity to develop skills in a variety of different areas.  As the communications coordinator you will attend classical music events, organised by HIP or otherwise free of charge, get to meet young musicians, and work alongside our partner organisations.

This is a unique and exciting opportunity to gain hands-on communications and social media experience within the arts and culture sector.

The role includes supporting the Communications Director (who works remotely) in all aspects of communications for Hastings International Piano, but particularly:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including SharePoint, Excel and Outlook.

  • Maintaining the website
