A blissful family summer’s day
We had packed a picnic and arrived early enough to have lunch before the performance. We found a table and chairs nestled into a lovely part of the garden border with views across to the sea, with the stunning house and gardens as our backdrop. We had time for an explore of the garden. We loved the peacocks and chickens and the inspirational kitchen garden, and also the avenue of lavender and vines gave a lovely Mediterranean feeling as we wandered up to the courtyard and the outdoor seating and took our seats. We heard lots of piano pieces by amazing artists and lots of musical talent. I am looking forward to seeing more in the future.
It was a really good opportunity to experience world class piano in the open vistas of East Sussex, and it was so accessible for the likes of us who are not big concertgoers. This was our first time at the Hastings International Piano summer picnic. It was a special day, a family day, and a brilliant adventure. A precious opportunity to hear beautiful piano music played by incredible young international musicians and a rare window into a world we as a family don’t know too much about.
