We are delighted to celebrate another major achievement for Curtis Phill Hsu, winner of the 2024 HIP Competition, who has been awarded First Prize at the 76th Viotti International Piano Competition in Vercelli, Italy. Curtis also received the Audience Prize.
The final took place on 17 October, with Curtis performing Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No 2 in C minor, Op 18, accompanied by the Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano under conductor Enrico Fagone. His performance impressed both the international jury and audience, securing him both awards.
“The moment I learned I had reached the final, my thoughts drifted back to last year, to that unforgettable evening at the White Rock Theatre, where I shared the stage with the RPO for my very first Rachmaninov Second Piano Concerto. That memory became a quiet source of strength – a warm reminder that I was never alone on stage. I will always cherish being part of the HIP family.”
