Round Two: results
We've heard some thrilling piano playing in Round Two of the competition - and it's been a particular delight to have our patron, Sir Stephen Hough, in the audience throughout to hear 20 performances of his new work, Metropolis, composed specially for the competition. 20 competitors reached this stage of the competition, and were asked to devise and perform a programme of solo works, including Metropolis, lasting between 30 and 35 minutes. The variety of programming has been incredible, with music ranging from Scarlatti and Bach to Ligeti and Stravinsky.
