The phenomenal 22-year old Canadian pianist Ryan Zhu recently won first prize at the Hastings International Piano Competition with a series of compelling performances culminating in a blistering interpretation of Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No 2.
A recent graduate of the Juilliard School in New York, and currently studying for a Master’s at Yale, Zhu is without doubt a pianist to watch. Now he makes his London debut with a lunchtime recital at London’s most prestigious chamber music venue, the Wigmore Hall. His programme includes the new work composed by our patron Sir Stephen Hough, specially for the competition, and music by Bach, Mendelssohn, Scriabin and Prokofiev.
